Welcome, and thank you for your interest in my healing practice.

About me and what I do
My name is Robert Hayden. I am a licensed acupuncturist in the states of Florida (where I now live) and Illinois (where I used to live). I have been in professional acupuncture practice since 1995.

My practice is primarily focused on two modalities: Chinese herbology and Japanese acupuncture. Both of these modalities are useful for people who want to improve their physical, mental or emotional well-being. They may be used together or separately.

Chinese herbology involves analysis of a person's physical, mental and emotional characteristics, their lifestyle, any symptoms of distress or disease they may be having, and other factors. This analysis generally results in the recommendation of specific combinations of dried herbs or other substances which are taken for a period of time. The analysis changes as the person's condition changes, and the herbs recommended may change as the person's condition moves closer to where they want it to be. Other recommendations, such as changes in diet, may also be made.

Japanese acupuncture uses the same process of analysis as Chinese herbology, but the method involves using extremely fine hair-like needles, application of tiny amounts of heat, or finger pressure to very specific locations on the surface of the body. These locations, which are commonly known as "acupuncture points", are often focal areas of distressed tissue which reflect disturbances deeper in the body. Once they are located and treated, the deeper disturbances begin to heal.

Japanese acupuncture is a particularly gentle form of acupuncture, and is well-suited to people who have never tried acupuncture before, as well as people who are very sensitive to treatment in general. However, its gentleness does not make it any less effective than other forms of acupuncture, especially in experienced hands.

I am board certified in both acupuncture and Chinese herbology by the National Commision for Certification of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). My training includes extensive post-graduate studies in both Japanese acupuncture and Chinese herbology.

My practice is at Tao House, 622 E. Hallandale Beach Blvd, Hallandale, Florida 33009, Office: 954-454-5559, Fax: 954-457-7771. I am currently seeing clients by appointment only, Thursdays and Saturday mornings.

My other professional activities include a busy teaching schedule. I am currently teaching primarily Chinese herbology at Acupuncture and Massage College in Miami, Florida, and the Academy for Five Element Acupuncture in Gainesville, Florida. I also taught for several years at Midwest College of Oriental Medicine in Chicago, Illinois and at Ohashiatsu Chicago in Evanston, Illinois. In addition, I teach continuing education classes in Japanese acupuncture and herbology for professional acupuncturists, massage therapists, and so on. Other areas of this website are devoted to those pursuits.

Thank you again for your interest, I wish you peace and good health.
